In the early hours of Sunday, Bengaluru police raided a rave party being held at a farmhouse near Kannamangala Gate, close to Devanahalli, and arrested 31 individuals. The event, disguised as a birthday celebration, had been promoted via social media, drawing attention from local residents due to unusual movement in the area.
Acting on a tip-off, the Devanahalli police conducted a raid around 5 a.m. and detained 24 men and 7 women. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Sajeeth VJ confirmed the arrests and stated that the blood and urine samples of all attendees had been collected for medical examination.
Most of those apprehended are reported to be IT professionals, with a few suspected to be drug peddlers. During the raid, police seized a variety of banned substances including cocaine, ganja, charas, opium, hydroganja, hashish, and premium liquor.
The farmhouse caretaker was taken into custody, though the main organisers and the property owner are currently absconding. Officers are reviewing confiscated electronic devices to trace the network behind the event and the source of the drugs, which include synthetic variants.
While police are yet to confirm if every attendee consumed drugs, all individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities await the toxicology reports to determine further action.
