A real estate businessman was allegedly kidnapped by a group of unidentified miscreants after they blocked his car and sprayed a substance on him near Karpur Gate in Anekal taluk on the outskirts of Bengaluru, police said on Monday.
The victim has been identified as Gopal, also known as Gopi, a resident of Honnakalasapura village in Anekal taluk. According to police, he is engaged in real estate and financial business in the region.
Kidnapping after vehicle rammed
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when Gopal and his friend Satish were travelling in a car from Attibele towards Anekal.
According to preliminary investigations, the assailants allegedly planned the abduction in advance. As the car approached Karpur Gate, another vehicle rammed into their car, forcing them to stop.
Soon after, the miscreants allegedly sprayed a substance on Gopal and forcibly dragged him out of the vehicle before abducting him. The group then fled the scene in another car.
Police said the attackers also sprayed the substance on Satish during the incident.
Police launch investigation
Despite being affected by the substance, Satish managed to alert Gopal’s family members about the incident. The family immediately informed the police.
A team from the Anekal Police Station rushed to the spot and conducted an inspection of the area. During the investigation, police seized the vehicle that was allegedly used by the suspects to block the victim’s car.
Officials said efforts are currently underway to identify the suspects and trace the kidnapped businessman.
Search operation underway
Police teams have launched a search operation and are examining possible motives behind the abduction. Investigators are also collecting CCTV footage from nearby areas and questioning individuals who may have witnessed the incident.
Authorities expressed confidence that the suspects would be traced soon and the victim rescued safely.
