Residents near Bengaluru Central Prison in Parappana Agrahara are facing severe mobile and WiFi disruptions due to the Tower Harmonics Call-Blocking System (T-HCBS) installed at the prison. Even those using LAN WiFi are experiencing connectivity issues, affecting essential services.

Atish Bandyopadhyay, a software engineer and resident of Boston Block, believes the prison department may have increased jammer amplitude, making WiFi calls unreliable. Many residents now struggle with call drops, online banking OTP delays, and poor network coverage for remote work.

In response, the local residents’ association, along with Kudla representatives, plans to submit a petition to the DGP (Prisons) demanding the removal of the jammers. They also intend to stage protests under the campaign ‘Say No to Jail Jammer Towers (T-HCBS)’. They argue that the network blackouts affect emergency services, online classes, food deliveries, and digital payments.

Resident Santhosh criticized the authorities, stating that proper prison security should eliminate the need for jammers. With many IT professionals working from home, the interference is severely impacting productivity.

On social media, users are urging the Karnataka CM’s office to address the issue, citing incidents like a recent fatality where an ambulance couldn’t be called due to signal loss. “If Tihar Jail, spread across 400+ acres, has one jammer, why does Bengaluru Central Prison need multiple jammers?” questioned one resident.
