A restaurant on the outskirts of Bengaluru has been sealed after police allegedly discovered that beef was being served to customers while being sold and represented as mutton.

The action was taken against Kayaloram Restaurant, located at Isiri Hub in Bommanahalli near Budigere Cross, following a complaint from customers.

Police arrested two individuals, identified as Jeeju and Shibu, in connection with the case and registered a complaint at the Avalahalli Police Station.

Suspicion raised by customers

According to police, the restaurant had been operating for nearly one-and-a-half years. The alleged malpractice came to light when a group of youngsters visited the establishment and ordered mutton meals.

The customers reportedly became suspicious about the meat served to them and questioned the restaurant staff. Unsatisfied with the explanation, they alerted the police.

Following the complaint, officers from Avalahalli Police Station visited the restaurant and conducted an inspection.

Restaurant sealed after inspection

During the inquiry, police allegedly found evidence suggesting that beef was being served to customers in place of mutton.

Based on the preliminary findings, the two accused were taken into custody and the restaurant was immediately sealed pending further investigation.

Authorities are now examining the extent of the alleged fraud and whether similar incidents had occurred previously.

Investigation underway

Police have launched a detailed probe into the matter and are expected to verify procurement records, food supplies and customer complaints linked to the restaurant.

Officials have advised consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing or consuming meat products and to promptly report any suspected cases of food adulteration or misrepresentation.

Further legal action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
