Global software giant SAP has inaugurated its new India Innovation Park in Bengaluru, marking the company’s second-largest R&D facility after its German headquarters. Situated on a 41-acre site in Devanahalli, near Kempegowda International Airport, the facility reinforces Bengaluru’s role as a major global tech hub.

Developed in multiple phases, the campus currently has 27 acres built and operational, housing 3,200 employees, with another 4,500 set to move in soon. Once fully completed, it will support a capacity of 14,000 personnel. The second phase has already received approval, with construction expected to finish by Q2 or Q3 of 2028. The total project cost exceeds €194 million.

Speaking at the launch, Sindhu Gangadharan, MD of SAP Labs India, emphasized the campus as a “beating heart of co-innovation,” designed to bring together customers, partners, academia, startups, and communities under one roof.

This is SAP’s second Bengaluru campus, complementing its existing facility in Whitefield. The move aligns with a growing trend among tech majors like Google and Microsoft expanding their R&D footprint across India.

Bengaluru is now the world’s fourth-largest tech cluster, home to 875 Global Capability Centers (GCCs), representing 34% of India’s GCC workforce. According to Nasscom and Zinnov, India’s GCC sector is expected to grow from $64.6 billion in FY24 to $99–105 billion by 2030.

SAP, which recently surpassed LVMH and Novo Nordisk in market cap to become Europe’s most valuable listed company, earns most of its revenue from cloud services and is doubling down on AI-driven enterprise solutions.
