One of the most challenging metro infrastructure segments in the city, constructed at Silk Board Junction, has been officially inaugurated, marking a key milestone in Bengaluru’s urban mobility expansion.
The stretch, built by Afcons Infrastructure, is considered among the most difficult due to heavy traffic density and complex construction conditions.
Key leaders inaugurate project
The project was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar along with Member of Parliament Tejasvi Surya.
Officials highlighted the engineering challenges involved in executing the project in one of the city’s busiest corridors without major disruptions.
Engineering feat in high-traffic zone
Silk Board Junction is known for intense congestion, making construction extremely demanding. The metro stretch required careful planning, advanced techniques, and coordinated traffic management to ensure minimal inconvenience to commuters.
Boost to Bengaluru connectivity
The newly inaugurated stretch is expected to significantly ease traffic pressure in the area and improve connectivity between key IT and residential zones.
Commuters travelling through the corridor are likely to benefit from reduced travel time and improved reliability.
Step forward in metro expansion
The project represents a major step in expanding Bengaluru’s metro network, aimed at addressing the city’s growing mobility challenges.
Authorities believe that continued investment in mass transit infrastructure will be crucial in tackling congestion and supporting the city’s rapid urban growth
