Bengaluru: A heartfelt post by investor Rahul Mathur about treating his newly retired mother to a relaxing weekend in Bengaluru has gone viral, with many praising the gesture as a touching way of repaying years of parental sacrifice.

In a post on X, Rahul shared that his mother had planned to visit his new home in Bengaluru soon after retiring earlier this year. However, those plans were postponed after both her parents suffered serious injuries.

According to Rahul, his grandmother fractured her femur while his grandfather injured his shoulder in separate falls. Instead of enjoying retirement, his mother spent nearly three months caring for them, coordinating hospital visits, doctor’s appointments and managing household responsibilities.

A well-deserved break

With his grandparents’ health gradually improving and the household returning to normal, Rahul decided it was finally time to give his mother the break she deserved.

He flew her to Bengaluru for a leisurely weekend, where she visited his new home, explored the city’s food and beverage scene, and stayed at a luxury hotel. Rahul also ensured he had no work commitments during the visit so they could spend quality time together.

Tribute to a mother’s sacrifices

Rahul reflected on his mother’s career of more than three decades in sales, recalling how she frequently travelled across India on overnight economy flights and worked in an era when six-day workweeks were the norm.

Describing the experience as one of the greatest joys of adulthood, he said he was grateful to finally be in a position to give back to the woman whose hard work had helped build their family’s future.

The post resonated widely online, with many social media users applauding Rahul’s gesture and calling it a reminder of the importance of caring for parents after years of their selfless sacrifices.
