Police in Bengaluru have arrested canteen staff working inside a city stadium for allegedly selling Indian Premier League tickets illegally at inflated prices.

According to reports, the accused were employed in the stadium canteen and are suspected of misusing internal access to obtain tickets meant for authorised distribution.

Tickets sold at premium rates

Investigators said the staff allegedly sold match tickets to cricket fans at prices significantly higher than official rates, cashing in on huge demand for IPL matches.

The alleged black-market sales came to light after complaints and intelligence inputs during the ongoing tournament season.

Police launch crackdown

Authorities have intensified monitoring around stadium premises to prevent ticket scalping, fake passes, and unauthorised resale during high-profile matches.

Police are also examining whether others were involved in the racket, including possible middlemen or external buyers.

Demand surges during IPL season

IPL matches in Bengaluru, especially those involving Royal Challengers Bengaluru, often see massive demand, with tickets selling out quickly online.

This demand sometimes creates opportunities for illegal resale networks charging fans several times the original price.

Fans urged to buy only through official channels

Officials have advised the public to purchase tickets only through authorised platforms and avoid buying passes from unknown sellers.

Buying from unofficial sources can lead to fake tickets, denied entry, or financial fraud.
