A disturbing new scam has emerged in Bengaluru’s KR Puram, where a man was caught faking an accident in an attempt to extort money from a driver. The incident, which occurred recently, was captured on the car’s dashcam, revealing the man intentionally collapsing onto the bonnet of a moving vehicle. The footage quickly exposed the fraudulent act.
These staged accidents are becoming an increasing concern in Bengaluru, with scammers trying to file false insurance claims or extort money from unsuspecting drivers. The rise of such scams has sparked outrage among social media users, who are demanding swift action against the culprits. Similar incidents have been reported in areas like Whitefield and Kadugodi, further escalating the alarm.
One X user noted, “The scams are getting bloodier by the day. Without a dashcam, one is toast.” Others expressed concerns about the growing prevalence of these scams, with one even suggesting that an organized extortion mafia might be behind these staged accidents.
In another incident, a similar scam was uncovered in Whitefield, where a man deliberately laid in front of a car to fake an accident. As dashcam footage went viral, it highlighted the crucial role such devices play in protecting drivers from fraudulent claims.
The Bengaluru City Police have responded to the viral post and are asking for more details from the victim to take further action.
