A woman’s account of feeling safe during an early morning commute in the city has resonated widely online, highlighting how small acts of kindness can make a significant difference, especially for solo travellers.
Aishwarya Kalparjun shared her experience on Instagram, posting a video that detailed her late-night journey shortly after arriving in Bengaluru.
Help when it mattered most
According to her account, she was travelling from the airport to Kadugodi around 3 am but faced difficulty booking a cab, likely due to the short distance of about three kilometres.
During this time, a bus conductor stayed by her side, ensuring she was not left alone while she searched for transport. His gesture provided reassurance during an otherwise uncertain moment.
A ride offered with trust and care
She further recounted that a rider from Rapido approached her and offered to drop her to her destination. When she asked about the fare, the rider reportedly told her to simply share the location and begin the ride.
After safely reaching her destination, the rider did not demand a fixed amount and instead asked her to pay whatever she felt appropriate, stating that ensuring her safe drop at that hour was his responsibility.
Social media response and wider impact
Kalparjun noted that the experience left a lasting impression, particularly as a woman travelling alone in a new city at an unfamiliar hour. She said the kindness shown by both individuals made her feel safe and supported.
Her post quickly gained traction online, with many users praising the gestures and emphasising the importance of empathy and public safety. Several commenters noted that such acts help build trust and reinforce a sense of community.
The incident has once again highlighted how everyday kindness can shape perceptions of safety and leave a meaningful impact on individuals navigating unfamiliar environments.
