A 21-year-old aerospace engineering student from BMS College of Engineering in Bengaluru’s Hanumantha Nagar tragically died by suicide on Saturday. The incident occurred at around 4:45 PM when the campus was quiet, as per the police.

The student, whose name has been withheld, reportedly jumped from the fifth floor of the college building. A preliminary investigation suggests family issues were a contributing factor. Hours before the incident, he sent messages to his parents expressing distress over personal matters. The family has requested confidentiality, and authorities have respected their wishes.

He was in his seventh semester and commuted daily from his home in Anekal. Earlier that day, he attended internal exams and scored 38 out of 50, a professor revealed post-incident. Known to be an introvert, his untimely death has left the campus in shock.

The police ruled out foul play and registered an unnatural death report. This tragic event has reignited concerns about mental health support for students navigating academic and personal pressures.

In a separate incident, a 19-year-old student in Bengaluru also died by suicide after alleging financial fraud by a college mate. These cases highlight the urgent need for awareness and preventive measures.
