Bengaluru: Four suspected members of a gang popularly known as the Chaddi Gang allegedly attempted to break into houses at Celebrity Eco Front layout in Kumbaranahalli, Anekal taluk, late Saturday night.

The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area, providing police with footage to aid their investigation.

Suspects target houses at night

According to residents, the suspects targeted the houses of Chandrashekhar and Ramareddy.

Police said two of the suspects allegedly stood guard on the road while the other two cut the compound gate and attempted to enter one of the houses.

However, their attempt was reportedly interrupted when a woman living nearby heard the noise. After looking out of her window, she raised an alarm, prompting the suspects to flee from the spot.

CCTV footage helps police probe

Police suspect that the group could be linked to a series of burglaries reported in parts of Karnataka, including Dharwad, Hubballi and Hassan.

The suspected gang members are also believed to have assaulted people who attempted to confront them, police said.

The alleged movements of the group have caused concern among residents in Anekal and Jigani, particularly those living in residential layouts.

Residents urged to remain alert

Jigani police have registered a case and intensified their investigation based on the CCTV footage.

Police have advised residents to remain particularly vigilant during night hours and immediately inform the authorities if they notice suspicious persons or activities in their neighbourhoods.

The investigation is continuing to establish the identity of the suspects and determine whether they are linked to other burglary cases.
