In another tragic water tanker accident in Bengaluru, 33-year-old tech professional Sudanshu Sekhar sustained critical injuries when a tanker ran over his arms after colliding with his scooter at Panthur Railway Under Bridge (RUB). On his way to work at Outer Ring Road from Varthur, Sekhar was hit from behind, knocked into a muddy slush, and subsequently crushed by the tanker. His wife, Sradha, reports that he may face permanent loss of finger mobility and requires urgent surgery. The couple has a four-year-old daughter.
The Whitefield police quickly detained the tanker driver. Notably, the Panthur RUB has long been criticized for its hazardous condition, particularly impacting heavy vehicle traffic.
Bengaluru has recently seen a troubling rise in similar incidents. Earlier cases include a woman fatally run over by a water tanker in Whitefield and a fatal hit-and-run involving a biker in Kamakshipalya. Local authorities face increasing calls to enforce stricter regulations on tanker driving practices to prevent further tragedies.
