Incessant rains on Tuesday evening led to severe waterlogging and traffic gridlock on Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR), causing massive disruption for commuters. To manage the situation, traffic police closed the gates of tech parks along the ORR, leaving many tech employees stranded inside their workplaces for hours. An advisory issued to companies informed them of the measures taken to ease traffic, urging cooperation from the workforce.
Social media, especially X (formerly Twitter), was flooded with complaints and visuals showing the severity of the situation. One user described the chaos inside Embassy Tech Village, where employees were locked in without prior notice. Others shared videos of vehicles stuck in gridlock and expressed frustration over the standstill. Many techies, unable to leave their offices, had to return to their desks after spending hours waiting in traffic.
The heavy rains, compounded by poor traffic management, created what one user called an “insane” and “beyond repair” situation. Many hope for a more effective solution to Bengaluru’s ongoing traffic and infrastructure woes.
