Bengaluru: What if the comfort of a holiday could continue long after the bags were unpacked? For Bengaluru-based couple Manal Iqbal and Muhammad Ayaan, that idea became the inspiration behind their 800-square-foot 2BHK home.

The co-founders of Nature & Nook designed their apartment around the feeling of a relaxed getaway, proving that a compact home can feel warm, spacious and deeply personal without relying on excess.

A small home shaped by travel

Rather than trying to make their apartment appear larger than it is, the couple focused on bringing the softness of their travel experiences into everyday life.

The home follows a farmhouse-cottage-inspired aesthetic, combining cane, tactile wood, warm brass details and carefully chosen furniture. Almost every element was tailor-made, with the overall project completed within a budget of around Rs 35 lakh.

Light and plants transform the space

The east-facing apartment receives generous natural light from the morning. White walls help reflect the sunlight, creating a brighter and more open atmosphere.

Wooden furniture, shelving and flooring accents add warmth, while plants placed throughout the home bring nature into the neutral interiors. The combination helps soften the compact layout without making it feel crowded.

The living room is centred around a plush sofa and two armchairs, creating an intimate space for conversation. French windows further enhance the sense of openness.

Designed for connection

One of the most distinctive choices is the absence of a television. The couple wanted the living area to encourage conversation and togetherness rather than become a space centred around screens.

A slim foyer with a console and mirror introduces the home’s understated style, while the dining island serves as the heart of everyday activity.

The apartment ultimately reflects a simple philosophy: a home does not need to be large to feel expansive. With thoughtful design, natural light, personal memories and comforting materials, even 800 square feet can carry the feeling of a favourite holiday long after the journey ends.
