Three youths have been arrested after a group of youngsters were allegedly caught on video brandishing machetes and creating panic in a Bengaluru neighbourhood.

The incident took place around 7.30 pm on May 30 at Pillanna Garden, off Tannery Road. The video, which later went viral on social media, prompted police to launch an investigation.

Group allegedly created panic in public

According to the First Information Report (FIR), eight youths were travelling on two motorcycles when the incident occurred. Two members of the group were allegedly seen displaying machetes while moving through the area.

Police said the youths also engaged in a quarrel among themselves, creating a tense atmosphere and alarming residents and passers-by.

The footage quickly spread online, drawing attention to the incident and leading to swift police action.

Police register case under Arms Act

Based on the viral video, K G Halli police registered a suo motu case under relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

Following an investigation, officers identified and arrested three suspects believed to be involved in the incident. Efforts are continuing to trace the remaining youths seen in the footage.

Police said further arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.

Officials reiterated that strict action would be taken against individuals involved in activities that endanger public safety or create fear among citizens.
