Bengaluru: The body of G.B. Jakkanagoudar (54), the Tahsildar of Thirthahalli taluk in Shivamogga district, was discovered in a lodge room in Bengaluru, leading to widespread shock and concern. Police suspect that he may have succumbed to a heart attack, although the precise cause of death will be confirmed following a post-mortem examination.
The grim discovery took place on Wednesday night at Vaibhav Lodge, situated under the jurisdiction of Upparpete Police Station. Jakkanagoudar had travelled to Bengaluru for court-related work and was staying at the lodge. Family members reported him missing after he became unreachable since Tuesday evening, raising alarms about his well-being.
Authorities initiated a search when his mobile phone’s location indicated he was in the vicinity of the Majestic area. This led to a focused search operation, culminating in the discovery of his body inside the locked room at the lodge. The police had to force open the door to access the room and subsequently sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
As investigations are underway, local officials are still piecing together the circumstances surrounding his death. “We don’t have confirmed information about which lodge Jakkanagoudar was staying in. His family members are not reachable,” stated Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde. He further added that the exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy. The post-mortem is scheduled for Thursday, and it is expected that the family will take the body back to Gadag thereafter.
Jakkanagoudar had been serving as the Tahsildar of Thirthahalli for the past year and was originally from Gadag district. His untimely demise has raised questions about the pressures faced by public servants, especially those who travel for official duties.
The news of Jakkanagoudar’s death has sent shockwaves through the community. Colleagues and residents have expressed their condolences and concern for his family. “It’s a tragic loss for our community. He was dedicated to his work and well-respected among his peers,” remarked a local official.
Local leaders are calling for increased support for public servants, highlighting the importance of mental and physical health in high-pressure roles. The need for proper welfare mechanisms for officials who undertake duties away from their home towns has been underscored, especially in light of this incident.
Jakkanagoudar’s family, once located, will be involved in further arrangements following the autopsy. The community stands in solidarity with them during this challenging time.
As the investigations continue, the focus remains on determining the exact cause of death and providing the necessary support to Jakkanagoudar’s family. His service as a public servant will be remembered, and the community mourns a loss that has deeply affected many.
