Vigilant locals of KR Puram took matters into their own hands after spotting a tractor illegally unloading debris at the Vengaiyankere Lake buffer zone late Friday night. The vehicle, falsely painted with “BBMP” markings to deceive onlookers, was intercepted by activist Balaji R and other residents.
When the culprits failed to produce valid permission, the residents confiscated the tractor key and made them clean up their own mess. Balaji highlighted that unauthorized dumping in lake zones is rampant and urged authorities to seize such vehicles and impose strict penalties.
Municipal officials confirmed they have received a video of the incident and instructed local authorities to register an FIR and confiscate the tractor. Meanwhile, Mudassir, from Hoskote Lanco Highway Ltd, noted that repeated illegal dumping has led to road hazards for two-wheeler riders.
