Bengaluru Traffic Police have issued a clarification following a viral social media post that claimed a pregnant woman was stranded in traffic due to restrictions imposed for the movement of the Karnataka Governor’s convoy.

The controversy erupted after a video showing a motorist sitting on the road and confronting police personnel over a traffic halt gained widespread attention online, triggering a debate over VIP movement and public inconvenience.

Police dispute viral claims

In a statement posted on social media, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic-East) said an inquiry had been conducted into the incident.

According to police, it was found that the motorist was travelling alone at the time and that no pregnant woman was present inside the vehicle.

Officials reiterated that ambulances and genuine medical emergency cases are always given priority during traffic management and convoy movements.

The Traffic Police also urged the public to verify facts before sharing or amplifying information online and warned that legal action could be taken against those spreading false information.

Motorist issues clarification

Before the police statement was released, the motorist involved in the protest, identified as Mohit, shared his own clarification on social media.

He stated that he was travelling to pick up his pregnant wife for a medical appointment and that she was not inside the vehicle when the incident occurred.

Mohit said his decision to sit on the road was driven by frustration caused by the traffic situation. He also noted that the incident had highlighted broader concerns about traffic congestion and commuter inconvenience in Bengaluru.

Debate over VIP movement continues

The incident, which took place on Sunday, sparked widespread discussion online regarding traffic restrictions during VIP convoy movements in the city.

While police have disputed key claims made in the viral posts, the episode has once again brought attention to the challenges of managing traffic in Bengaluru, particularly on already congested roads undergoing infrastructure work.

Authorities have maintained that traffic restrictions in the area were temporary and that public safety and emergency cases remain a top priority. #Bengaluru #TrafficPolice #VIPConvoy #TrafficCongestion #ViralVideo #newskarnataka
