Bengaluru: In a proud moment for Karnataka, two senior police officers have been conferred with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. Alongside them, 18 police personnel, three fire officers from the state, and one CBI constable stationed in Bengaluru have been recognized with the Medal for Meritorious Service (MMS).

The President’s Medal recipients are Suresh S, Deputy Inspector General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Bengaluru, and S Badrinath, Superintendent of Police with the Karnataka Lokayukta.

A 1996-batch officer, Suresh S has served across some of the most challenging regions in the country, including Maoist-affected Bastar and Gadchiroli, conflict zones in Jammu & Kashmir, and the Northeast. He also had a tenure with the National Security Guard (NSG), India’s premier counter-terror force. At present, he heads the CRPF’s elite Dog Breeding and Training School in Bengaluru, a specialized unit that plays a critical role in security operations.

S Badrinath, the other awardee, is currently serving as SP (Coordination and Training) in the Karnataka Lokayukta. His work in promoting effective policing practices and strengthening institutional mechanisms has earned him national recognition.

Nationwide, as part of the Independence Day 2025 honours, 1,090 officers from police, fire services, home guards, civil defence, and correctional services were awarded for gallantry and distinguished service.

These awards reflect not just individual dedication but also the growing emphasis on honouring officers who contribute tirelessly to public safety and national security.
