A Reddit post allegedly shared by an Instamart worker from Bengaluru’s Jayanagar area has triggered outrage online after claims surfaced that employees were forced to drink bathroom tap water inside the store amid rising temperatures.

The allegations were posted on the r/Swiggy community, where the user accused the management of failing to provide basic drinking water facilities despite the city’s ongoing heatwave.

“The bloody company that runs this store doesn’t even have the basic courtesy of providing proper drinking water during this level of scorching heat,” the user wrote.

Workers allegedly depended on bathroom tap water

According to the viral post, the Jayanagar outlet reportedly did not have a proper water dispenser, unlike other stores. The user claimed that packaged drinking water cans supplied to the outlet would get exhausted quickly because of the intense heat and staff demand.

The worker further alleged that employees often had to request water from nearby stores whenever Swiggy’s auditing team visited after the outlet ran out of water stock.

One of the most shocking claims in the post alleged that a security guard collected bathroom tap water and stored it in bottles for drinking purposes.

Social media users express concern

The post has since sparked criticism across social media platforms, with many users questioning workplace conditions and the lack of basic facilities for quick-commerce workers.

Several commenters urged companies to ensure clean drinking water, rest areas, and better welfare measures for employees working in extreme weather conditions.
