Vodafone Idea (Vi) officially launched its 5G services in Bengaluru on June 11, 2025, making the city part of its expanding 5G footprint alongside Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Patna, and Chandigarh. This marks a major milestone in Vi’s roadmap to cover all 17 priority circles where it has secured 5G spectrum by August 2025, according to an exchange filing on June 10.
Vi subscribers in Bengaluru with 5G-enabled smartphones can now enjoy high-speed connectivity, and as a promotional offer, the company is providing unlimited 5G data on plans starting at ₹299. The service promises faster downloads, buffer-free streaming, online gaming, HD video calls, and real-time cloud access.
Anand Dani, Business Head – Karnataka at Vi, stated, “With our next-gen 5G and enhanced 4G network, we aim to deliver an improved digital experience to our users.”
To ensure strong service quality, Vi has partnered with Samsung to deploy energy-efficient 5G infrastructure and implemented AI-powered Self-Organising Networks (SON) to smartly optimise network performance.
Vi highlighted that it has introduced compact, energy-saving radios that support multi-technology operations—enhancing coverage while ensuring greener connectivity solutions.
Alongside 5G, Vi has made major 4G upgrades across Karnataka, including:
- 900 MHz indoor coverage boost on ~3,000 sites
- 2100 MHz capacity doubled on 1,800+ sites
- 1800 MHz enhancements across 4,100+ sites
These improvements have led to a 46% increase in overall capacity since March 2024.
