Bengaluru’s love for luxury cars is undeniable, but so is its infamous tax evasion problem. In a massive operation, the Karnataka Transport Department cracked down on high-end vehicle owners dodging road tax, seizing 30 supercars in a single day.

A 41-member special task force, led by the Transport Deputy Commissioner, conducted checks across the city and impounded vehicles from Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, BMW, Audi, and Range Rover. Authorities revealed that these cars were being driven regularly without paying state road tax, leading to the issuance of tax recovery notices worth ₹3 crore.

Many luxury car owners register their vehicles in lower-tax states while using them in Karnataka to avoid paying the state’s steep road tax rates. Some even skip Indian registration altogether, exploiting loopholes to save lakhs in taxes. However, this practice is illegal, and violators now face penalties and legal action.

With increasing instances of tax evasion, the Transport Department has vowed stricter enforcement, ensuring non-compliant supercar owners face the heat.
