A young woman turned to Reddit with a heartfelt plea to find her father, whom she hadn’t seen since she was two. What followed was an inspiring example of how online communities can change lives.
In her post on the Bengaluru subreddit, the 25-year-old shared that her father had worked for a travel management company in Bengaluru but was originally from Kerala. “He must be around 45-50 years old now. My parents separated when I was very young, and I’ve never had the chance to know him,” she wrote, adding that any leads would mean the world to her.
Within days, Reddit users came together to help. In an emotional update, she revealed she had finally reconnected with her father and his side of the family.
“I spoke to my dad over the phone with a friend translating Malayalam. He cried when he heard my voice,” she shared. She also learned that her father, now working in Chennai, had never remarried and hadn’t visited Kerala in four years. Though some relatives had passed away, she was grateful to have found one surviving uncle.
The heartwarming story quickly went viral, sparking an outpouring of support. One commenter wrote, “This is amazing. I was hoping Reddit would do its magic, and it did!”
She shared that she plans to meet her father next week to begin a new chapter in their relationship.
