Bengaluru:A 38-year-old homemaker from Kamakshipalya was found hanging under suspicious circumstances in a hotel room on Magadi Main Road in Agrahara Dasarahalli on Thursday night. Police said the woman, who was married to a financier and mother of two daughters, is suspected to have died by suicide following a confrontation with her lover.

According to investigators, the woman had been in an extramarital relationship with her married neighbour, an auditor, for the past few years. A few months ago, she introduced one of her female friends to him, who later developed a romantic relationship with the same man.

Confrontation before death

On Thursday, the deceased reportedly learned that her lover and the friend were together at a hotel. She then booked a room opposite theirs, and after confirming their presence, banged on their door and demanded that the auditor open it. When he refused and called the hotel reception to complain about the disturbance, she returned to her room and allegedly hanged herself.

The incident came to light after the man went to check on her later and found her unresponsive.

Police investigation

A senior police officer said that while circumstantial evidence points to suicide, the postmortem report is awaited for confirmation. The auditor has been questioned by Magadi Road police and instructed to appear before the investigating officer when summoned.

A case of suspicious death has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
