A woman from Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a female home guard after being asked to dress appropriately in a public setting, an incident that has sparked discussions around public conduct, personal boundaries and violence against uniformed personnel.
Altercation over dress code escalates into violence
According to police, the accused, identified as Damini, allegedly attacked a female home guard, Narasamma, after the latter advised her to wear decent clothes. What began as a verbal exchange reportedly escalated into physical violence, with the accused allegedly striking the home guard on her face and nose, causing injuries.
The incident occurred in Bengaluru, where Narasamma was on duty at the time. Eyewitnesses said the home guard was performing her routine responsibilities when the confrontation took place.
Police action and arrest
Following the assault, police were alerted and Damini was taken into custody. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law for voluntarily causing hurt and obstructing a public servant in the discharge of duty.
Officials said the injured home guard was provided medical attention and is currently recovering. Senior police officers have stated that attacks on uniformed personnel will be dealt with firmly, irrespective of the circumstances leading to the dispute.

Police sources emphasised that while differences of opinion can arise in public spaces, resorting to violence is unacceptable. They noted that home guards play a crucial role in maintaining public order and assisting the police, often working under challenging conditions.
