Bengaluru: A gruesome crime shook Bengaluru’s Indiranagar area, where Maya Gogoi, a young professional from Assam, was found brutally murdered in a service apartment. The accused, identified as Aarav Anay from Kannur, Kerala, is currently on the run.

Crime details

The incident occurred at The Royal Livings, a service apartment where Aarav had been staying for three days. CCTV footage revealed Maya and Aarav arriving together on 23 November. Police believe that Aarav remained in the apartment for a full day after committing the crime, as footage showed him smoking near Maya’s body, raising suspicions that he may have contemplated dismembering her but later abandoned the idea.

On the morning of 24 November, Aarav booked a cab and fled, leaving Maya’s lifeless body behind.

Investigation progress

The Indiranagar police are leading the investigation, collecting forensic evidence and interviewing staff and neighbours to piece together the sequence of events. Preliminary findings suggest the murder stemmed from personal disputes.

Victim’s background

Maya, a resident of HSR Layout, worked at a private firm and was regarded as a promising young professional. The tragic incident has left her family and friends devastated.

Police efforts

Authorities have launched a manhunt to locate Aarav, and officials have assured the public that every effort is being made to bring the accused to justice.

This horrifying act serves as a grim reminder of the need for vigilance and security in urban environments.
