BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has announced a temporary suspension of online services on October 5 and 6 due to an upgrade of its information technology systems. This upgrade is part of the implementation of the IPDS IT Phase-II project, aimed at enhancing service efficiency and reliability.
The downtime will commence at 9 PM on October 4 and is expected to last until 6 AM on October 7. During this period, the I.T. RAPDRP (Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme) application services will be suspended, affecting various customer services that BESCOM provides.
BESCOM Managing Director Mahantesh Baragi explained that the company acts as the nodal agency for implementing the Part-AIT scheme for all electricity supply companies (ESKOMs) in the state, specifically targeting towns with populations exceeding 30,000. He assured customers that the upgrades will lead to improved application efficiency, resulting in better services starting from 6 AM on October 7.
Customers should be aware that several services will be unavailable during this downtime, including:
- RAPDRP Application Services: This includes services such as new connections, name and tariff changes, name transfers, and temporary connections.
- Cash Counter Payments: Physical cash payment services will not be accessible.
- Customer Portal Services: This encompasses new contacts, and changes to name and address information.
- Online Bill Payments: Both through the customer portal and third-party channels will be unavailable from 9 PM on October 4 until 11 AM on October 5.
- Mobile Application Services: The BESCOM mobile app will also be non-functional during the outage.
- WAMs Transactions: These transactions will be temporarily suspended.

Online bill payment services will resume at 11 AM on October 5, while all other services are expected to be restored by 6 AM on October 7.
