BJP Leader Calls for Unity Among Dalit Organizations in Bangalore
Bengaluru : BJP National Organization General Secretary B.L. Santosh has stressed the need for greater unity among social organizations, particularly focusing on Dalit and farmers’ associations. Speaking at a felicitation ceremony for Legislative Council Opposition Leader Chalavadi Narayana Swamy, Santosh highlighted the fragmented nature of these groups and urged them to come together to strengthen their voice.
Santosh noted that divisions within farmers’ associations and Dalit struggle committees weaken their collective efforts. “Society cannot progress unless these organizations unite to address injustice and work toward social progress,” he said, emphasizing the importance of cooperation, even amidst differing opinions.
Political Transition
BJP State Unit President B.Y. Vijayendra, who also spoke at the event, credited Swamy’s appointment as Opposition Leader to the party’s commitment to social justice, based on a recommendation from B.S. Yediyurappa. Santosh praised Swamy’s political journey, stating that his switch to the BJP was driven by careful consideration of the party’s principles of “truth and honesty.”
Personal Journey
Narayana Swamy shared his personal political evolution, explaining how he transitioned from the Congress to the BJP. Initially joining Congress, he later moved to BJP out of frustration but has since grown to appreciate the party’s inclusive policies. He recounted how he changed his name from Thimmayya Narayana Swamy to Chalavadi Narayana Swamy, symbolizing his determination to serve people.
The event, presided over by MP Govind M. Karajol, was attended by leaders from various religious and political spheres, including heads of Basava Mahamane and Urilingapeddi Math, as well as several former ministers, legislators, and BJP leaders.
This call for unity is seen as an important step toward fostering cooperation among key social groups in Karnataka.
