BJP to Stage Protest in Mangaluru Against Arrest of ISKCON Monk in Bangladesh
The Dakshina Kannada BJP, in collaboration with the Hindu Hitharakshana Vedike, will hold a protest in Mangaluru on December 4, condemning the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, an ISKCON monk, in Bangladesh and the attacks on Hindus in the country. BJP district president Sathish Kumpala announced the protest during a press briefing on Monday. The protest will involve a march from Ambedkar Circle to Mini Vidhana Soudha and will see participation from various mutt heads, seers, BJP MLAs, and MPs.
Kumpala emphasized that ISKCON, an organization founded for world peace, is beloved by people globally. He urged Bangladesh authorities to release the Hindu monk immediately and ensure the safety and protection of Hindus in the country. Following the protest, a memorandum will be submitted to the Governor, requesting it to be forwarded to the President of India.
The BJP’s protest aims to put pressure on the central government to urge Bangladesh to safeguard religious minorities in the wake of ongoing tensions, including arrests and violent attacks. Kumpala highlighted that rioters have targeted Hindu temples, places of worship, and cultural centers, describing the situation as grave. He expressed confidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would take proactive steps to address the issue.
Addressing questions regarding internal disputes within the party, especially related to Waqf properties and disagreements with MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal, Kumpala reaffirmed the BJP’s unity under the leadership of state president B.Y. Vijayendra. He assured that any issues within the party would be resolved by the BJP high command and national leaders.
