The upcoming wedding of Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anant Ambani, and Radhika Merchant has caused a stir in Mumbai’s hospitality sector, particularly in the upscale Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). Both hotels in BKC, where the wedding festivities are set to take place, have completely sold out their rooms, as reported by travel and hotel booking platforms. Prices have surged dramatically; for instance, one hotel is offering rooms at ₹91,350 per night on July 14, compared to the usual ₹13,000 per night rate.

The main event is scheduled for July 12 at the Jio World Convention Centre in BKC, with additional celebrations planned through July 14. Although the exact accommodation arrangements for guests have not been confirmed, the surge in hotel rates around BKC and nearby areas reflects the anticipation surrounding the high-profile wedding.

Traffic management has also been affected, with the Mumbai Traffic Police issuing advisories and implementing restrictions on roads leading to the Jio World Convention Centre from July 12 to 15, between 1 pm and midnight.

The increased demand for accommodation during such grand events is a common occurrence, echoing similar trends observed during the wedding season in Delhi or events like the Aero Show in Bengaluru. Hospitality experts noted that premium rates during such periods can also extend to flights and local transportation.

In the midst of these preparations, business operations in BKC, home to numerous prestigious offices and corporate entities, continue to adapt, with potential advisories for employees regarding work-from-home options during peak disruption times.
