Vodafone Idea Hikes Tariffs by Up to 24%, Following Industry Trend

Vodafone Idea (Vi), has announced an increase in mobile tariffs, ranging from 11% to 24%, effective July 4. This move follows closely on the heels of Reliance Jio’s tariff hike announcement on Thursday. Another player in the industry Bharti Airtel also announced the hike in the tariff both Jio and Airtel are set to implement their new rates from July 3.

In a statement, Vi stressed its commitment to providing customers with straightforward and comprehensive plans tailored to diverse needs. The company stated, “While adhering to our philosophy of supporting entry-level users and progressively linking higher prices to increased usage, changes in entry-level plans are nominal.”

The revised pricing structure sees Vi’s entry-level plan, which offers a minimum 28-day mobile service, increase by approximately 11% from Rs 179 to Rs 199. A popular 84-day plan with 1.5 GB daily data allowance has been adjusted from Rs 719 to Rs 859. The most substantial hike is seen in the annual unlimited plan, which jumps about 21% from Rs 2,899 to Rs 3,499.

Interestingly, Vi has maintained the price of its 365-day validity plan with a 24 GB data cap at Rs 1,799.

Justifying these increases, Vi stated, “We are planning significant investments over the coming quarters to enhance our 4G experience and launch 5G services.”
