Gurgaon resident Harsh Upadhyay recently expressed his astonishment on social media platform X regarding the price of coriander on Zepto. Uploading a screenshot, he highlighted that the cost of ‘coriander leaves’ was Rs 131 per 100 grams, even after applying a 22% discount. Additionally, ‘coriander leaves premium’ were priced at Rs 141 per 100 grams.

The post sparked a variety of reactions, ranging from surprise to amusement. One user humorously commented, “It gets expensive in monsoon!!! All veggies will get expensive during this season!” Another remarked, “That too after 22% off… hypocrisy on another level.”

Another user observed, “If Zepto’s buyers are not aware of the price, you effectively set the price. Notice also the Rs 10 difference between cleaned and normal coriander leaves. It’s all nudges and lack of awareness that makes Zepto the start-up it is.”

Reflecting on consumer behavior, one user added, “Well, they say young millennials and Gen Z are ready to pay a premium amount for the convenience and speed. 🤷‍♀️”

The post has gained significant attention on the platform, with over 1.75 lakh views.

In related news, Zepto recently secured $665 million (approximately Rs 5,560 crore) in funding ahead of a potential IPO. This funding round valued the company at $3.6 billion, marking a significant increase from its previous valuation of $1.4 billion just nine months ago. Avenir, Lightspeed, and Avra joined Zepto’s roster of investors, alongside existing backers Glade Brook, Nexus, and StepStone.
