Amazon India has partnered with city-based NGO SayTrees to rejuvenate Yamare Lake near Sarjapur Road, aiming to replenish 270 million liters of water annually. The restoration will expand the lake from a mere 0.6 acres to 21 acres, significantly improving groundwater levels and local water availability.

Yamare Lake, once a thriving water body, has suffered severe degradation due to pollution and waste dumping. The initiative seeks to transform it into a healthy ecosystem, benefiting both the environment and nearby communities.

This project aligns with Amazon’s broader sustainability commitment to return more water to Indian communities than it consumes by 2027. SayTrees, known for its environmental conservation efforts, is spearheading the rejuvenation through research, education, and community-driven initiatives.

Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar emphasized the role of corporate responsibility in preserving water bodies. He highlighted how businesses can drive meaningful change through sustainable water management and community investments.

With corporate and community collaboration, the project promises long-term benefits for Bengaluru’s water security and ecological balance.
