Amazon has announced that its Great Indian Festival sale will begin on October 8, coinciding with Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale as the festive shopping season gets underway in India.
The e-commerce company is promising discounts across smartphones, electronics, fashion, beauty, home essentials and grocery, along with additional benefits for Prime members.
Prime members to get extra benefits
Amazon said Prime members will receive up to 10 per cent additional benefits during the festive sale. Customers can also avail themselves of an instant 10 per cent discount on eligible SBI Card transactions, although Amazon has not yet disclosed all details of how the additional benefits will apply across products.
The sale will feature deal formats including Blockbuster Deals, Top 100 Deals, Mega Deals and 8 PM Deals. Customers can also access Buy More Save More, Exchange Mela, Sample Mania and Amazon Combos.
No Cost EMI and exchange offers will be available across several categories.
Smartphones and electronics in focus
With smartphone prices facing pressure amid a global memory shortage, the sale could offer discounts on models from brands such as Apple, Samsung and Google.
Amazon is also promoting AI-powered shopping tools that can help customers compare products, check price histories and receive recommendations while browsing.
Prime members will additionally get access to a festive selection of titles on Prime Video, including exclusive Originals across different languages and genres.
Amazon expands delivery network
Ahead of the festive season, Amazon said it has created more than 1.6 lakh seasonal job opportunities across 400 cities.
The company is also expanding its operations network with 20 fulfilment centres, six sort centres and 150 last-mile delivery stations.
Amazon Now, its quick-delivery service, currently operates in more than 60 cities and is expected to expand to 100 cities before Diwali.
