Amul‘s iconic Gold milk has made its way to Costco Wholesale in the US, sending waves of excitement across social media. The sight of gallon-sized Amul Gold milk bottles on Costco shelves in Austin, Texas, quickly went viral on X, with users enthusiastically sharing the news. One caption read, “Amul in Costco. The takeover is near.”
Since Amul began supplying Costco with its 6% fat Amul Gold packs in October 2024, many netizens have expressed their anticipation for more Amul products. Some even joked about wanting Amul Cheese and Butter to hit the shelves, with one comment saying, “Authentic Amul butter is the need.”
Amul’s entry into the US retail market follows a partnership between the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and the Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) in April 2024. The product’s unique formulation has appealed to not only the Indian diaspora but also American consumers, as noted by GCMMF’s managing director, Jayen Mehta.
In addition to milk, Amul plans to introduce curd and fresh cream to meet growing demand. The viral post sparked playful comments linking the brand’s growth to “Deep Seek” and “Amul Seek,” with users humorously discussing the brand’s “takeover” of the market.
Despite the humor, some questioned the large 3.78-liter milk gallons, noting how much more milk they would consume than their families could manage.
