The state government has announced the formation of Bengaluru Business Corridor Ltd, a new entity aimed at reviving the 73-km Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) project. The PRR Development Corporation Ltd has been dissolved, and the road has been renamed as part of this fresh initiative.

The new entity will be chaired by the Bengaluru Development Minister, with top officials from the Urban Development department, Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), BBMP, Finance department, and Public Works department included as members. The BDA chairman will serve as the vice chairperson. The 12-member board will also include representatives from the engineering and finance sectors, an assistant commissioner, and a town planning expert.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar spearheaded the renaming of the PRR to Bengaluru Business Corridor, with the goal of monetizing the land along the 73-km stretch to ensure the project’s success. However, the BDA has yet to issue a new tender for the project’s implementation.

This strategic move aims to enhance the development and utilization of the PRR area, signaling a renewed effort to advance the infrastructure project.
