Mangaluru: “The current ratio of the doctors in the country is 1: 3000 Indian people and the accessibility to the doctors is much more difficult”, said Dr. Yusuf A Kumble, MD, Chief Interventional Cardiologist on May 16 delivering the keynote address at the inaugural of Indian Emergency Medical Services.
Introducing the services Kumble said that EMS is not a familiar term in the Indian countries and Indiana is proud to present such an initiation in the city of Mangaluru.
In her presidential address, the Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation, Jacintha Vijay Alfred applauded the idea of Indian Emergency Medical Services and said that now patients in Mangaluru city will be served better.
On the occasion DC AB Ibrahim said, “The location of the hospital and the proximity towards the city and the national highway is a plus point as it will allow the hospital to serve better, he further wished the hospital well and encouraged them.”
Police Commissioner S Murugan said, “Trauma care centers and Emergency Medical Services is one of the strongest fields. It is challenging for a medial practitioner to work in such situations, times are changing and medical complications have worsened, in such a scenario, such a service will be very beneficial” he added.
Before the valedictory ceremony the dignitaries – S Murugan, Jacintha Vijay Alfred, DC AB Ibrahim, Dr. Yusuf A Kumble, inaugurated the Emergency Medical Services department, Mobile ICU ambulance, Emergency OPD along with MLA Moideen Bava, IMA president JK Bhat, coporator Praveen Acharaya and others.
During the function they also inaugurated ‘Save a life’ campaign which emphasis on saving lives of the general public and educating them with various measures during medical emergency situations.
