A heartwarming story of determination has captured attention online after Eternal CEO and Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal shared the journey of Atharv Singh—a former Blinkit picker who is now joining Zomato as a designer. Goyal posted the story on LinkedIn, highlighting Singh’s inspiring transition and the life-changing opportunities that opened up along the way.
Singh, a fourth-year design student, shared that he had been managing his education and living expenses on his own due to lack of parental support. Struggling to make ends meet, he stumbled upon an Instagram advertisement for Blinkit at a time when he was desperate for income. He joined a Blinkit dark store as a picker and worked there for four months, which he described as the turning point in his life.
“Life really comes in full circle… An Instagram ad about Blinkit popped, truly life changing,” he wrote.

Joining Zomato’s design team: “1% done”
Atharv expressed excitement and gratitude as he prepares to join Zomato’s design team. “Really grateful for what you’ve built… this Blinkit boy will now deliver design at Zomato,” he said, thanking Goyal for sharing his story and giving him a platform.
Responding to the post, Singh added humorously, “Please pinch me when I see you,” emphasising how surreal the moment feels after years of hardship.
Goyal’s highlight of Singh’s journey comes amid growing discussions on access to opportunity, skill mobility and how India’s gig economy can open non-linear pathways into high-growth careers.

Social media users flooded the comments with encouragement, calling Singh’s journey “inspiring,” “powerful,” and “a reminder of what’s possible.” Many noted that stories like his push the ecosystem to rethink how opportunity is built and scaled.
One user wrote, “Was down… this reminded me to get back on the saddle.” Another commented, “Stories like this are a reminder that real impact isn’t measured in metrics—it’s measured in lives changed.”
Many young professionals related deeply to Singh’s path, saying it shows how perseverance and the right opportunity can transform one’s life.
Singh’s journey—from struggling student to Blinkit picker to Zomato designer—stands as a testament to resilience, talent and the evolving pathways created by India’s digital economy.
