Tokyo: On Monday, Toyota announced that it was stopping the shipping of ten models with engines connected to anomalies in testing at a subsidiary.
The parent organization claimed that three diesel engine models were certified without the necessary horsepower output testing being carried out by the affiliate, Toyota Industries.

The models that use the impacted engines are the Land Cruiser 300 and HiAce, according to the automaker.

The shipment suspension will affect about 36,500 Toyota vehicles produced every month, the company said.

Toyota Industries said in a separate statement that its workers adjusted the fuel injection amounts to make the data “better-looking”.

Toyota Motor said it had since confirmed that the affected engines and vehicles meet engine performance output standards, meaning there was no need to stop using them.

Additionally, Toyota Industries reported that additional anomalies were discovered in relation to the engines used in forklifts and other construction equipment’s certification process.

The Transport Ministry was informed by Toyota Industries of its findings and stated that it would conduct independent inspections.

The announcement follows last month’s forced suspension of all shipments by Toyota subsidiary Daihatsu, which manufactures well-liked small cars in Japan after admitting that it had not carried out vehicle safety tests correctly for decades.
