Chai Sutta Bar co-founder Anubhav Dubey recently reflected on how a series of disappointments in the UPSC exams unexpectedly steered him toward triumph. In an emotional post on X (formerly Twitter), Dubey revealed how persistent failures and self-doubt shaped his journey.
Addressing others who’ve never been recognized, Dubey candidly shared, “Till I turned 25, I hadn’t received a single award. Always a backbencher, I never cared much for certificates or trophies.”
Failure sparked new beginnings
With dwindling confidence in cracking UPSC, Dubey turned to his friend Anand Nayak and floated a business idea. Though haunted by the thought, “What if I fail here too?”, this time he shifted his perspective. “I was an average student, but I decided to pour all my time, focus, and energy into this venture,” he recalled.
That leap of faith resulted in the birth of Chai Sutta Bar, a tea chain that has now grown into a beloved brand across the country.
Persistence pays off
Dubey’s message to aspirants and dreamers is simple but powerful: recognition might not come from conventional routes, but it doesn’t reflect one’s potential. “If you haven’t been awarded yet, maybe you’ll be celebrated elsewhere. Just don’t stop trying.”
Started in 2016 by Dubey, Nayak, and later joined by Rahul Patidar, Chai Sutta Bar evolved from a modest tea stall in Madhya Pradesh to a household name.
