Govt. clears five projects with Rs. 2,049 cr investment

Bengaluru: A State High-Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) meeting presided by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has approved investment of Rs. 1,325 crore in textiles by Himatsingka Siede Limited. The investment will expand the company’s business in Hassan.
Other major investment projects cleared the SHLCC are Stelis Bio Pharma Private Ltd. (Rs. 248 crore) in Bengaluru Rural, Harsha Sugars Ltd. (Rs. 213 crore) in Belagavi, Auric Industries Ltd. (Rs. 156.25 crore) in Raichur and Cheers Breweries (Rs. 107.50 crore) at Nanjangud in Mysuru. The five projects would generate employment for 3,532 persons.

In 2014-15, the State Government has cleared 108 projects involving investment of Rs. 54,433.01 crore which would generate employment to 56,101 persons. In 2013-14, the State had cleared 255 projects involving investment of Rs. 42,176.54 crore.

Women’s trade delegation to visit the US

The Chief Minister has allowed participation of a delegation of women from the State in WEConnect’s International Conference and Business Fair at Austin, Texas.

The international meet would be held from June 23 to 25 at the Austin Convention Center.

Considering the potential of women entrepreneurs from the State, the Chief Minister has, for the first time, approved a delegation led by K. Ratna Prabha, Additional Chief Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department.

The delegation consists of 22 members, including 19 women entrepreneurs from FKCCI, Bangalore, eMERG, Bangalore, and KCCI, Hubballi.

Mr. Prabha said, “The delegation will appraise US-based MNCs of investment opportunities in Karnataka and prospects for women entrepreneurs.”

“Also, the delegation will get an opportunity to network with various business organisations/industries and the delegation will invite investors to invest in Karnataka with joint ventures between women-to-women entrepreneurs,” she said.
