Mumbai: Hanuman Ansh has delivered a surprising box-office result by earning more on its 26th day than Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups managed on its seventh day. The devotional drama collected an estimated ₹8.50 crore net in India on Tuesday, September 1, compared with ₹8.20 crore net for Toxic on Day 7.
The ₹30 lakh difference is notable because the two films have followed completely different theatrical journeys. Hanuman Ansh is already in its fourth week and began its run with a modest ₹10 lakh opening, while Toxic opened on a much larger scale and recorded ₹101.10 crore net on its first day.
Hanuman Ansh records another strong day
Hanuman Ansh earned ₹8.50 crore net on Day 26, registering a 54.5 per cent jump over its previous day’s collection. The latest figure pushed its India net total to ₹54.13 crore, while its India gross collection reached ₹63.82 crore.
The film’s fourth week has turned into the strongest phase of its theatrical run so far. From Day 22 to Day 26, it collected ₹42.25 crore net, an extraordinary turnaround for a film that had started with relatively limited audience interest.
Its reported weekly figures show the extent of the late surge. Hanuman Ansh earned ₹1.08 crore in its first week and just ₹40 lakh in the second week. The third week improved to ₹10.40 crore before the film exploded in its fourth week.
The devotional drama’s Day 22 to Day 26 figures were ₹6.25 crore, ₹9.25 crore, ₹12.75 crore, ₹5.50 crore and ₹8.50 crore respectively. The ₹12.75 crore Sunday collection remains the highest single-day figure during this run.
Toxic remains far ahead overall
Despite losing the Day 7 comparison, Toxic continues to be vastly ahead of Hanuman Ansh in overall box-office collections.
After seven days, Toxic had earned ₹229.95 crore net and ₹272.80 crore gross in India, giving it a domestic net lead of ₹175.82 crore over Hanuman Ansh.
The Yash-led film also collected ₹1.50 crore from overseas markets on Day 7. Its overseas gross reached ₹40.75 crore, taking its worldwide gross to ₹313.55 crore, according to the reported figures.
Therefore, the Day 26 versus Day 7 comparison should not be interpreted as Hanuman Ansh overtaking Toxic at the box office overall. It simply highlights the unusual strength of the smaller film’s late theatrical run.
Toxic sees weekday recovery
Toxic opened with an enormous ₹101.10 crore net on Day 1. It followed that with ₹37.65 crore on Day 2, ₹27.20 crore on Day 3, ₹25.15 crore on Day 4 and ₹23 crore on Day 5.
The film’s collection dropped to ₹7.65 crore on Day 6 before recovering to ₹8.20 crore on Day 7, a 7.2 per cent increase over the previous day.
The film’s Hindi version contributed ₹5.60 crore on Day 7, the highest among its five language versions mentioned in the report. In contrast, Hanuman Ansh, which released only in Hindi, earned ₹8.50 crore across India on its 26th day.
From a ₹10 lakh opening to ₹54 crore
The transformation of Hanuman Ansh has become one of the more unusual box-office stories of the year.
The film opened in theatres on August 7 with only ₹10 lakh. Instead of seeing its collections decline rapidly, it gradually built momentum and found a larger audience during its subsequent weeks.
Its third-week performance indicated that audience interest was growing, but the fourth week produced a much more dramatic jump. The film’s sustained collections suggest that word of mouth has played an important role in keeping it in theatres and helping it secure more shows.
The latest ₹8.50 crore Tuesday collection is particularly significant because weekday numbers generally tend to fall after a weekend. Hanuman Ansh, however, moved from ₹5.50 crore on Monday to ₹8.50 crore on Tuesday.
Two very different box-office journeys
The contrast between the two films illustrates how theatrical success can develop in different ways.
Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, arrived as a major star-driven release featuring Yash alongside Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair. The action-drama thriller was released on August 26, 2026.
Hanuman Ansh, meanwhile, is a Hindi devotional drama written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi. The film stars Shobhinaw Satyaa and Vihaan Shedge, with Chandan Anand, Gulshan Pandey, Anil Rastogi and Purnima Tiwari also in the cast. It released on August 7.
The two films are therefore operating on very different scales. Toxic had a huge opening and has already crossed ₹229 crore net in India in its first week. Hanuman Ansh has taken 26 days to reach ₹54.13 crore net.
Yet the fact that the latter can earn ₹8.50 crore on a Tuesday in its fourth week, marginally higher than Toxic‘s Day 7 figure, has made its late run a talking point.
What the latest figures show
The latest numbers do not change the overall box-office hierarchy. Toxic remains comfortably ahead in India and has crossed ₹300 crore worldwide, while Hanuman Ansh is still building its total after a slow beginning.
However, Hanuman Ansh‘s fourth-week surge stands out. Its ₹42.25 crore collection across Days 22 to 26 is more than the film accumulated during its first three weeks combined.
The Tuesday comparison with Toxic is therefore less about which film is the bigger commercial success and more about how dramatically Hanuman Ansh has changed its trajectory.
A film that opened at ₹10 lakh is now delivering ₹8.50 crore on a weekday, while simultaneously crossing the ₹50 crore net milestone. Its performance underlines the potential of sustained audience interest to transform a modest theatrical opening into a significant late-run success.
