IndiGo has revised charges for several domestic add-on services, including infant travel, excess baggage, unaccompanied minors, priority check-in and boarding, and travel certificates. The changes mean passengers using these services will have to pay more, while the basic airfare remains separate.
Infant travel fee rises to Rs 3,000
The fee for infants aged more than three days and up to two years has been increased to Rs 3,000 from Rs 2,000. Infants do not receive a separate seat and must travel on the lap of an accompanying adult. IndiGo permits one infant per adult passenger.
The airline has also raised its domestic excess baggage charge to Rs 800 per kg from Rs 700. Passengers carrying luggage beyond their permitted allowance will therefore pay Rs 100 more for every additional kilogram.
Higher charges for children travelling alone
The fee for IndiGo’s unaccompanied minor service has increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,999 for domestic journeys. The service is available for eligible children aged five to below 12 years travelling without an accompanying adult.
For international journeys, the corresponding charge has been revised to Rs 12,999.
Priority services also become costlier
IndiGo’s Fast Forward priority check-in and boarding service has also become more expensive, with the domestic charge revised to Rs 650. The airline has additionally increased its travel certificate fee from Rs 200 to Rs 300.
The revised charges are part of changes to IndiGo’s ancillary services and will add to travel costs for passengers opting for these facilities.
