Mumbai: Subrata Roy, the founder of Sahara India Pariwar, popularly known as ‘Saharasri,’ passed away on Tuesday at the age of 75. The demise was a result of a cardiac arrest following an extended period of illness, according to a statement from the Sahara India Group.
Roy, the Managing Worker and Chairman of Sahara India Pariwar, was an inspirational leader and visionary, leaving behind a legacy that deeply impacted the organization. He passed away at 10:30 p.m. on November 14 at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute (KDAH) in Mumbai. The hospitalization occurred on November 12 due to deteriorating health caused by complications arising from metastatic malignancy, hypertension, and diabetes.
In an official statement, the Sahara India Group expressed profound sadness, stating, “His loss will be deeply felt by the entire Sahara India Pariwar. Saharasri ji was a guiding force, a mentor, and a source of inspiration for all who had the privilege of working alongside him.”
The statement also mentioned that details regarding the last rites would be communicated in due course. The Sahara India Pariwar affirmed its commitment to upholding Subrata Roy’s legacy and continuing to honor his vision in driving the organization forward.
