Infosys lets go of more trainees, offers alternative roles in BPM
Infosys has dismissed another 30-45 trainees from its Mysuru campus on March 26 after they failed internal assessments, sources revealed. This follows the company’s January decision to terminate around 350 trainees who had faced prolonged onboarding delays of over 2.5 years.
To support the affected individuals, Infosys is providing a 12-week training program for potential roles in its Business Process Management (BPM) division. The company has also assured sponsorship for the training of those opting for the BPM pathway. Additionally, trainees who leave will receive a one-month ex-gratia payment and a relieving letter.
For those unwilling to transition into BPM roles, Infosys is arranging transport to Bengaluru and providing a travel allowance to their hometowns. They can also stay at the Employee Care Centre in Mysuru until departure. Trainees must submit their travel and accommodation preferences by March 27, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka Labour Department has given Infosys a clean chit, ruling out any labour law violations. Officials stated that the affected individuals were trainees, not employees, and hence not subject to layoff regulations. Despite scrutiny from state and central labour authorities, Infosys maintains that its policies align with existing employment guidelines.
