Global fast-food giant McDonald’s is reportedly preparing for one of its most ambitious menu overhauls in years, with plans that include its largest-ever burger, and an official “secret menu” rollout in select markets during 2026.

Big Arch burger may debut in the US

At the centre of the buzz is the Big Arch, a hefty double-patty burger that has already gained popularity in international markets. According to reports, the burger could finally make its US debut this year. The Big Arch features two beef patties, white cheddar cheese, crispy onions, lettuce, pickles and signature Big Arch sauce, all served on a poppy and sesame seed bun.

While McDonald’s has not officially confirmed the US launch, speculation grew after an American employee reportedly shared internal menu details on Reddit. In Canada, a Big Arch meal reportedly costs around $12.59, making it pricier than most standard offerings.

Strategy to regain momentum

The reported menu expansion comes after McDonald’s faced its first sales decline since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2024. The company rebounded by introducing value-focused promotions, including the popular $5 meal deal, which has since been extended multiple times.

Earlier this month, McDonald’s announced its new McValue platform, featuring eight items across breakfast, lunch and dinner, alongside a “$1 add-on” option for select food and beverage items.

Pokémon tie-up and secret menu buzz

McDonald’s is also rumoured to be planning a Pokémon-themed Happy Meal to mark the gaming franchise’s 30th anniversary. Though unconfirmed, reports suggest the promotion may include themed packaging and collectible trading cards.

Internationally, the company is experimenting with an official “secret menu”, transforming viral social media food hacks into limited-time offerings. No confirmation has yet been made about a US rollout.

Industry watchers say these moves highlight McDonald’s push to blend value, nostalgia and social media-driven creativity to attract younger consumers and reclaim market momentum.
