Reddit is making a bold move into the Indian market by setting up an office in Bengaluru, sources told Moneycontrol. The company has been actively hiring across various departments, including growth, policy, finance, and community management, with some roles allowing remote work.

This follows the registration of two Indian entities—Reddit Technologies India and Reddit Community Network India—in Mumbai in July 2023. While the company remains tight-lipped about its expansion, insiders suggest the goal is to craft culturally relevant experiences for Indian users.

India, the world’s second-largest internet market, is a major focus for Reddit’s user growth and revenue strategy. The platform’s unique daily active user base in India soared by 90% in Q3 2024, with a notable 20% rise in female users. Statista estimated over 25 million monthly active Reddit users in India in 2023. Popular communities around Bollywood, cricket, finance, and technology are driving engagement, alongside city-based groups in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, and Gurugram.

To boost global reach, Reddit has rolled out AI-driven language translation, expanding into multiple languages and planning further growth across 30 countries. The company, which went public in March 2024, sees international expansion as a key revenue driver, with non-U.S. markets contributing nearly 19% of its earnings in Q4 2024.
