Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd. (RRVL), the consumer arm of Reliance Industries led by Mukesh Ambani, reported robust financial performance for Q3 FY25. Profit after tax (PAT) rose 10% year-on-year to ₹3,458 crore, compared to ₹3,145 crore in the same period last year. Operating revenue grew by 7%, reaching ₹79,595 crore, up from ₹74,373 crore. For the nine months ending December 2024, revenue from operations stood at ₹212,357 crore, marking a 3.3% increase from the previous year.

Key Highlights

  • EBITDA Performance: Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) improved by 9.8% y-o-y to ₹6,828 crore, with the EBITDA margin at 8.6%.
  • Store Expansion: RRVL added 779 new stores, bringing the total to 19,102. Despite this, the operational area decreased sequentially to 77.4 million sq. ft. from 79.4 million sq. ft. in Q2 FY25.
  • Footfall: Footfall decreased slightly quarter-on-quarter to 296 million but grew 5% y-o-y from 282 million in Q3 FY24.

Category Performance

  • Grocery: Achieved 37% y-o-y growth, driven by the big-box format.
  • General Merchandise & Value Apparel: Saw 20% y-o-y growth.
  • Premium Personal Care & Beauty: Grew 16% y-o-y.
  • Metro Business: Recorded its highest-ever festive sales.
  • JioMart: Expanded its seller base by 33% y-o-y, while Milkbasket saw 20% growth in active users and 24% growth in gross merchandise value (GMV).

Consumer Brands

Reliance’s consumer brands achieved nine-month revenue of ₹8,000 crore. Flagship brands Campa and Independence gained traction, with Campa securing over 10% market share in the sparkling beverage category in select states. Both brands are projected to cross ₹1,000 crore in turnover by FY25.

Mukesh Ambani attributed the success to Reliance Retail’s understanding of customer needs and its ability to deliver the right products through a vast network. Isha Ambani highlighted the focus on seamless shopping experiences through initiatives like JioMart express deliveries and Milkbasket subscription services.
