Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) which governs the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara deposited 2,780 kg ( 2.78 tons) of gold with State Bank of India under long term deposit scheme on August 28.
The certificates for the gold deposit were handed over by Amaravathi Circle SBI Chief General Manager Mani Palvesan to the TTD Financial Adviser and Chief Accounts Officer O Balaji, TTD PRO Ravi confirmed.
TTD would get an interest of 2.5 percent on the long term gold deposit made for 12 years under Gold Monetisation Scheme.
